I arrived at Peter's shop, early one morning...
We talked about his shop, my grant, what we should forge and the philosophy of learning the art of blacksmithing today, versus hundreds of years ago, among other things.  He has a really nice shop.

Really nice file bench.  He was working on recreating some locks as well as making a few pair of calipers.

Across the main shop area, was another bench for heavier work.

We decided to play "Follow the Leader" with a pair of flat bit tongs for 1/8".

Decided to draw out the reins instead of welding some on.

I had a lot of fun with Mr. Ross.  I enjoyed his perspective on the Art of Blacksmithing and appreciate his love of the craft and patience for quality.  I also appreciate the fact that he hipped me to the fact that the Woodwright School and Tool Store was only a few minutes away, in the next town, and there was a class in session there as we spoke.  Thanks for the lessons Mr. Ross.
